Tony is a Catholic Priest in Seattle….He runs a parish and a “club” for merchant mariners who find themselves halfway around the world on a ship and no place to go.
Christmas 2010 I photographed him delivering some presents to a Ukrainian crew on Panamanian ship just in from China and waiting to load up with soybeans for a trip to Bangladesh. They have been at anchor for 10 days already… no one is allowed to leave the ship since they don’t have visas. A typical situation.
