Pediatric Interim care
File this serene scene under… It’s not what it looks like… The PICC, as it is known, takes care of infants born under the influence of street drugs. They get good care but the whole scene is tragic. Baby’s usually have a temperature and shake continuously.
The strangest phone call I ever made (or ever will make) was as a child’s Guardian ad Litem I phoned the child’s family from PICC asking them if they would visit the child. They told me they did not want to ever see the child. They never did. I filed a petition to a court to terminate the parental rights the next day and the social service agency found the baby an adoptive home and that was the end of it (except for the adoptive parents who took on a lot of work for a high risk child).
